According to the paperwork, they were build by the same entrant. Bombers being my particular interest,I really liked those two! Hope they won an award for both.

Hi Kevin,

The answer to your question is David Hogue, from Houston, TX. He is a fantastic modeller!

I wasn't there, so I can't say how they did at this most recent show, but both planes have received "best aircraft" awards at previous shows in Texas!

You should see the undersides, and the full interiors and bomb bays! They look every bit as good as the topsides!

Regards,
Ed

The B-24 was sitting on a mirror. So, I was able to see a little of the amazing undersides of that one. Truly impressive craftsmanship!

Ed is correct. David Hogue was the builder. The B-24 took 1st place in 48th scale multi-engine prop category. I apologize but do not recall how the B-17 diorama did in its category. David's 350th USS Texas won Best Ship Award at ScaleFest. Best Aircraft Award at ScaleFest was Pat Villarreal's 48th scale Tamiya P-51D "Torchy".

David,
Those are some very nice builds!

Can you please tell me where you got the clear nose for the B-17?

Thanks,
Andrew

as we discussed the possibility that the B-17's leading edges might have been painted yellow right here on HS several years ago.

Great work David! I really admire your skill! It was a pleasure to see your work in person. Thanks for sharing!
