I'm interested in an accurate 1/35 scale  Syrian T62 model as used on the Golan Heights during the Yom Kippur war.  I've read the Trumpeter kits are excellent

There really aren't that many kits of T-62 in 1/35 scale. Really old Tamiya, even older ESCI ( i think ) and Trumpeter.
Trumpeter is hands down the best of them, so easy picking here.
You just have to find one that fits your time table as Trumpeter has like 20+ T-62 kits in different versions.  Can't help you here, T-62 is not my thing.

Agreed - there are only two kits to chose from. The old, ex Motorized Tamiya kit from the late 70s or early 80s that is pretty inaccurate, or the newer Trumpeter T-62 family.  The Tamiya kit has some major flaws like a turret that is too flat and just not shaped right, and a hull profile that is just off  That leaves the Trumpeter kits which are generally really nice. This particular kit has Syrian markings included, although Syria probably used a variety of tanks over the years. I believe the really early ones they used did not have the AA mount and just a flat loaders hatch. https://www.scalemates.com/kits/102732- ... 00377-t-62
