Time is limited this new format........It's lost me

As time is limted these days between work, family and everything else I am no longer interested in Hyperscale. It's all to do with formatting of the forms. I used to be able to see a posting with all reply's sequentiality in order. You could then decide if you would like to dive in and read. You could drop in for 5 minutes at lunch hour to get your fill. Now its way too arduous.

Hi Andy,

I would encourage you to use the Discussion view from the main Index page (near the top of the page, next to the Forums link). This allows you to quickly scan all threads wth new posts in all the Forums. If you are short on time, this is the best way to catch up.

Bye for now,

Brett

The Discussions link works for me and the new forum software has actually encouraged me back to Hyperscale!
...and pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in Space cos there's bugger all, down here on Earth!

Yeah, I agree. I've been "outta here" since the new format began (except for this post :-)

So what you're saying is that the informative content offered by these forums isn't worth your making the attempt to get acquainted/comfortable with a new user interface and possibly a different procedure for accessing that content. Gotta say I think that's really too bad. FWIW, I've found that using the "Mark topics read" link at the top of the page is really useful and streamlines the browsing process a great deal. If you keep up with it, it's easy to see what threads have new content, and they're usually all on the first page, unlike the old format where you pretty much had to scan through each thread list to find unread posts.

I've made the attempt. found it too time consuming for my tastes and have decided to abandon HS. I don't have all day to explore posts to see if they contain information I am interested in. Prior to this "update" I could explore Plane Talking for 30 minutes and walk away with fun, usable, or interesting info. Now I can spend that same 30 minutes and cover 1/3 the ground------going in blind on every post. I have found that I reacted to replies on posts before as much or more than I reacted to the OP. Now all I can see when I survey the landscape is the OP. I know there are many people out there who may love this new format..........I'm not one of them. I have yet to see (although I have not been looking) anybody rave about how much of an improvement this is. I'm happy you like it............I don't and I'm "outta here"

That is really too bad, man.

This format is like all of the other message boards on the internet that talk about aircraft or ships. (Steel Navy and the N54 Hyperscale were the only two big ones that used the other format)

Before this change, "regulars" on multiple forums had to switch their mental viewing style when looking at a bunch of forums whenever they came here or Steel Navy.

Now, we only need to adjust when we go to SN, and that format causes many to only visit SN once in a while, instead of multiple times a day.

This forum is actually now the "normal" type,,,,even though many got so used to the N54 that they might find the change uncomfortable.

Besides, N54 is going away,,,,,,and all of the other options worth a dime are in this style, TapaTalk, Invision, ProBoards, etc. When a host shuts down, there is no choice but to switch hosts.

Heck, I am surprised that Brett was able to make the change as quickly and as painlessly as he did. It could have easily turned out to be a huge loss of info.
