Hey folks,

Does anyone know if during Rolling Thunder the F-8E Crusaders of VF-162 aboard the USS Oriskany ever carried Mk. 82 bombs on wing-mounted triple ejector racks (TERs)?  .  I've seen a couple of pics on what looks like a single Mk. 82 on a single bomb rack under the wing but haven't come across any showing three bombs mounted on TERs.

Any information would be very much appreciated as always.

TIA!

Here is what VMFA (AW) - 212 did while they served on the Oriskany during the same time VF-162 did:

Gents,

Thanks for the replies!  II have a correction to make; the bombs with the kit (Monogram) are actually Mk. 117, not Mk. 82.  However, I do have some Mk 82 bombs from a weapons set so my inquiry has now expanded to either both the Mk. 117 and the Mk. 82.

Finn- It looks like the above pic shows the smaller Mk. 82, is that correct?

Yes those are Mk-82 Snakeyes, you can tell by the notch in the tail of the bomb.
