Originally posted in "on my workbench" seems more appropriate here:
Awhile back David Hansen and Steve Bakke put me in touch with Jerry Robinson (an awesome and generous guy) who is retiring from the hobby.  Jerry had seen a couple of my WWI builds and decided to entrust me with about 60lbs of his WWI aviation references.  I want Jerry to know that I will try to make sure that his stuff gets put to good use, so I am clearing off the workbench to start a scratchbuild Phonix D.1 in 1/32nd scale.

some progress:
the prop is built up from laminations of colored paper
The wheels and cylinder jackets are turned on a lathe

The Phonix are beautiful aircraft, so this is a great choice for a 1/32 scratch build especially in wood.
Its a lovely job so far and there will be many people cheering you on, especially if WNW produce 1/32 Phonix series soon after you complete yours.

More progress on the 200 h.p. Hiero.  The grey parts are Taurus resin parts intended for a Mercedes engine.

That is marvellous work - she will be a stunner and you are doing full justice to the generosity of your benefactor! I do like to watch a craftsman at work.
