I'm doing a figure to along with my ItaleriEuropean SAS WWII jeep:

This is about circa 1944-45 and I thought the beret colour was beige but in other places I've read it was Maroon at this time.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

TIA

Paddy Mayne and the other old hands of 1 Sqn disobeyed the directive to change to the Airborne beret and wore their sand coloured ones to France

As I said Chris it was Paddy Mayne and the older hands in 1 SQN that disobeyed the directive and wore their older ones. This was not universal and only applied to parts of 1 SQN. 2 Sqn were frequently seen in the ABN berets as were the newer members of 1 SQN. Both Sqns were operating jeeps in NWE
