Were the louvered type placed over the circular panel or did they replace them entirely?

I think that is consistent on close to all Commonwealth Mustangs.

Hi Serge,

Check Ultracast accessories section, and IPMS Canada includes a bunch in their 442 RCAF Squadron Mustang decal sheet.

I think that is consistent on close to all Commonwealth Mustangs.
I'd always just assumed the louvers were in lieu of the perforated panels, like the solid blank ones, which is also an assumption on my part. It never even occurred to me they might be covers.

I got google-curious and this article says over too:

I think I know, a compromise between the open holes and solid blank-offs, makes sense.
