Was it just the upper wing surfaces that had the panel lines and rivets puttied, smoothed & painted or did the undersides receive the same treatment? thanks in advance.

It is better to be the stomper rather than the stompee!

Thanks for the quick response Rian, just the kind of answer that I was looking for.

... this one of yours is probably the clearest depiction of the P-51 wing treatment.

BTW, I just ordered your Stencil package, and if the decals are even half as good as the down-loadable instructions, they are a treat! Even managed to add a number of cockpit items not found on Roy's excellent offering. Well done!

Just a note to the un-initiated, in Jenning's diagrams above, the lighter blue is the area treated with "filler" and "painted" with aluminum paint, while the darker blue area is the natural metal (aluminum) finish.

They're based on my info but look much better and clearer than my quick sketches.
Rian, I'm more an enthusiast than an expert, there's just too much stuff I don't know.

They're the only truly accurate and complete P-51D stencils ever produced, there's even a few extras.

... and NO, I have no connection to the manufacturer, and have received NO compensation for providing this information. Just a happy customer.

The wheel well color should not be the focus of the first image as the color was not always the same.

The last one shows YZC on wing. Obviously it was not the final color:
