Some new pilot photos from 1950-60s -http://heritageflightgeardisplays.wordp ... arch-2012/

I have around another 150 photos to still come if people would like to see more. Let me know?

I've become interested in adding figures to my aircraft models over the past couple of years and go to your site often as a reference. I wonder if you might be able to help me with my current puzzle? I'm about to start an FJ-4 Fury and want to include a pilot. The canopy will be closed so small details shouldn't matter too much, but I want something close to accurate.

The easiest route for me would be to use the figure that came with the Monogram F9F, wearing what looks like an H4 helmet. Would that be accurate for the somewhat later FJ-4 time period? Also, I've seen Fury pilots in bright orange as well as green(?) flight suits. Which is appropriate for a given circumstance?

No doubt this is a bigger can of worms than I even realize, but if you can point me in a direction I'd be most grateful.

The FJ- Fury pilots wore a mix of early days H-3/4 series gold or whatever colour they painted them in squadron service with MS22001 oxygen mask.

They then around mid 1956 started to introduce the APH-5 helmet with MS22001 oxygen mask coloured with gold paint and then later on painted whatever colours again by the squadron.

Both helmets did end up over the late 50s/60s era with stripes of reflective white and red/orange tape for aid in rescue of pilot at night time.

All the pilots of this era wore the yellow MK 2 Life Preserver Unit vest.

Flight suits varied between the more normal USN of tan colour and the high viz orange for the crews. By the mid 1960s green flight suits were becoming the norm.

Anymore just ask ill sure to find you a answer.
