Thanks Fellas. As I've said I haven't been at the bench for the better part of a decade now and my only unfinished model is a Monogram 1/48 P-51B that I left in the fun but fussy finishing stages. Not the best thing to get my feet wet on right now, need some modeling practice first if I don't wanna screw it up. My hands are somewhat more arthritic now and my eyes are older so it'll be a little tougher coming back from this hiatus than it's been in the past. Here's about where I left it but the exhausts and their shrouds have a black base coat for their upcoming metallic hues and the prop/spinner assembly is since decaled and finished. This will be a Redtail from the 332nd FG, 15th AF in Italy: Picture156.jpg
With Photobucket coming to their senses and playing nice seeing my old pics again made me remember how much I like building Tamiya's Ford MUTT kits, they're just fun. Armor, at least the way I do it lol is much more forgiving than aircraft, especially finishing touches on a NMF one so thinking of jumping back in with one of these and seeing how that goes. I've built two and have several more in the stash along with some Academy knock-offs of same. This one's kinda interesting with its unusual side-mounted spare and jerry can: tam35125.jpg
Thanks again Fellas!

Old Pics II 6-14-18, 1/72 Japanese. Fujimi Jill and Hasegawa Ki-61. I learned the hard way, twice, that Testors rattle can clear lacquers are too hot to apply over Tamiya acrylics. Both lessons on these two. Some fast work with a flat brush and a little thinner saved the day, twice, I got lucky. Next time I'll also know to wrap the upper colors over the wing leading edges a bit too. The Tamiya acrylics do brush in nice though: Picture075.jpg Picture073.jpg Picture076.jpg Picture078.jpg Picture077.jpg Picture068-1.jpg Picture071.jpg Picture070-1.jpg

Old Pics III, 6/14/18, 1/72 Lindberg Luftwaffe. Heinkel He-100 and Messerschmitt Me-163. Both brushed with the beautiful Aeromaster enamels. I hate to tell you guys this but my remaining Aeromaster RLM paint stocks are reserved for future Lindberg projects! Old Pics IV, 6/26/18, Monogram 1/72 Snaptite kits. These were built with my two boys when they were young, during the 1990's, they'd snap them together then I'd paint them a little. In fact the two bombers are still in their olive drab plastic with lacquer overcoats. Most of the Doolittle markings came from Monogram's 1/48 P-40B sheet. For what they're intended to be the shapes are good and the detail is adequate, I think. We've one more in the stash, an F-4E. Maybe they can come over, have a few beers and snap it together for me like old times: Picture025.jpg Picture083.jpg Picture089-1.jpg Picture036.jpg

Old Pics Six, 6/30/18, 1/72 Airfix. I dabble in 1/72 sometimes, not much, but it's its own brand of fun. My usual, tubeglue assembly and brushpainting, yeah I never really grew up. Second childhood? I'm not done with my first one yet. A Fokker Dr-1 and a P-51B. My one and only formal internet article, with the help of the more technologically savvy Rick Reinbott, the P-51B on ARC: http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/G ... ki/00.shtm
Here's the Dr-1, Werner Voss. I decided long ago I refuse to rig in 1/72 or I'd never build any. Besides, I keep my models forever so dusting is a factor in that somewhat conscious decision: Picture72-007.jpg Picture006.jpg
The P-51B, two photos that aren't in the article. My older son found this kit in the trash after a grade school science fair and brought it home for me to do something with. Even now as an adult he's resourceful like that: Picture113.jpg Picture112-1.jpg
