The 2007 Region 10 Convention is an annual gathering of modelers and clubs from around the IPMS/USA Region 10. Region 10 is made up of clubs in Arizona, Utah, Colorado and New Mexico.
This year, the Regional is being hosted by IPMS/Craig Hewitt Chapter, located in Phoenix, Arizona.
The primary purpose of the Regional is a model contest, open to modelers of all ages and skill levels. IPMS/USA membership is not required to enter the contest, but a discount on the registration fee will be given to current IPMS/USA members.
Convention registration is $20 for adults ($15 if a current member of IPMS/USA) and $15 for junior entrants ($12 if a current junior member of IPMS/USA). The registration fee will allow contestants to enter up to 5 models in the contest. Additional models may be entered for $1 each. Judging will begin a 1:00pm on Saturday, and many our judges also judge for the IPMS Nationals and some are even category head judges. This would be an excellent opportunity to fine tune your model before the 2007 Nationals in Orange County.
For those that don't wish to enter the contest, but would like to see some of Region's best models, visit with the modelers that built them, or to visit the vendor room, a Gereral Admission fee of $5 per day will be charged. A General Admission pass covering both days can be purchased for $8. Following the contest on Saturday, there will be a banquet and awards presentation. The banquet is $35 per person and will consist of a buffett. The awards presentation will begin at 7:00pm and is open to all registrants.
The convention is being held in the two ballrooms of the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites, located in Mesa, Arizona. The hotel is located just south of the US 60 Superstition Freeway on Country Club Drive. Area attractions close to the hotel include: three malls (Fiesta, Chandler Fashion Mall and Superstition Springs), a family fun center with miniture golf, bumper boats, and water slide, and the Commemorative Air Force Museum. Several local hobby shops are also within easy driving distance of the hotel.
For those traveling from out of town to the Regional, the Holiday Inn has set aside a block of rooms with a special convention rate of $70 per night. For more information on the hotel, and to reserve a room, click on the Registration button on the main page, and then go to Hotel Registration.
