You might want to do a bit of poking around the net for reviews. There are apparently no threads on the topic at HyperScale if the Search is to be believed. One thing I discovered after googling Hobby Boss 1/48 P-61 is that only the P-61B boxing includes the dorsal turret. The P-61C box art shows it, but it's not in the box. People also mention the shape of the forward clear part -- too short. Photos of the sprues reveal lots of divot rivets. Dunno of that's to your taste; it's not to mine FWIW.

The sprue shots of the A kit over at Hobby Search show that the kit also includes the dorsal turret in the box.

Maybe you’re thinking of the GWH kits?

The only impression that I recall from online discussions is that it wasn't much of an improvement on the old Monogram kit.  Don't have the HB kit so I don't have an independent opinion.  It also seems that most aftermarket resin enhancements fit both of the kits, FWIW.

Wasn't there talk about the fuselage beneath the upper turret being too narrow so much so that turret hangs over the fuselage? Pretty big oops if you ask me. From what I have heard get the GWH kit as it is much better. Be careful which release though as they corrected some issues. I think the last shoot down one is the one to get.

Right you are. No, I was going on a review at Aeroscale plus painting profiles in the various kits. Sorry.

there are nice photos of a HB P-61B at I
modeler.com.  Go to the top of the home page, select A-Z, then select P61.
