This is the Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation (Australia) CA-31, a proposal apparently based on the F9F-2. It was abandoned in favor of a swept-wing T-tail design with pitot intake. The illustration is from a defunct Russian forum via www.secretprojects.co.uk. The call-outs are undecipherable, but note the second seat:

CA-23 1.JPG And what is that sphere in the nose?

Tommy Thomason has been asked about this by email, but does anybody else know anything about it?

The sphere usually is to show us the diameter of the radome cross section,,,,it sort of implies some sort of radar.

Interesting drawing.

I built a model of the F-9F-2  and painted it "bare metal" per a "black and white" photo that I saved in my WW-II scrapbook several years ago.
I took some nice digital of the model so if you want to see them email me at foxx700777@gmail.com.............Rodney.
