for those of you who don´t already know it, I´ve seen on Hobby Boss´s new preview today they´re doing an early Huey in 1/48

I'm not sure WHAT that's trying to be. Proportions are off, it has a mutated B-model rotor head and tail, the sync elevators are way oversized and haven't decided if they are B or C, it has B-model cat whiskers, rectangular antennas... all said it looks more like a B. If it's an accurate B, that's mo' betta IMHO.

The UH-1D was the backbone of US Army Air in the Vietnam conflict. Every night the news footage from there showed -1Ds loaded with troops and door gunners hanging out the sides. It's an indelible image in my mind but apparently not worthy of a top flight kit
