I'm Jim Bates a 31-year-old expat Canadian living in Akron, Ohio with my wife Heather and our pug Winston. In real life I am an attorney with a small firm in Cleveland. I've been an aviation fan and modeler as long as I can remember. My first model was a 1/72 Airfix F-86D in an MPC box and I'm not sure that my models have improved since. Currently, I am the IPMS/USA Secretary, and occasionally write a "Canuck Corner" column for the IPMS/USA Journal. I claim to build 1/72 (R)CAF aircraft, but it seems like I build whatever I think is cool. Ok, I buy whatever I think is cool and finish next to nothing. I've had a few articles and photos published in Air International, Flypast, and Warbirds International over the past few years. Besides model projects I own a 1:1 Aeronca L-16 project and just recently sold my 1:1 Taylorcraft L-2 project. I am no better at finishing real planes that I am with models. In case you haven't guessed I'm also a pilot. To many hobbies, not enough time...

Jim

I gotta get me one of these someday!

Was that pic taken at Willow Run last year? In the CAF's Helldiver? Looks very familiar. I dont remember that line though. I didn't make it out there this year, so I guess it could have been this year. Anywho, Good luck with all your projects!

In Dave Tinker's TBM. This year was amazing. 12 TBMs, SBD, SB2C, 3 F4Us, 3 P-47, 2 Wildcats, Firefly, Sea Fury, and more Harvards than I can count.

Btw, the line was for the Aces Symposium.
