I am doing research on the F6F-5 cockpit and I noticed a pump/lever on the right side of the seat. What is this lever?

Also, I don't see this lever in all Hellcat cockpit photos.

Was this lever only in the F6F-5 (late version)?

Thanks for the help.

The eduard kit does not include this hand pump so I have to scratch build it.

That pic is for the -3. I assume the pump was the same in the -5.

running to apply pressure on the wing locks. If the plane had spread wings or stowed wings this pump could be used to apply hydraulic pressure to the locks to lock or unlock the wings. The actual wing folding was manual. If the plane was on jacks the pump could be used to raise / lower the gear without the engine running.

This winter during the 50 hour inspection of the Lancaster, I got suckered into operating the hand pump while we adjusted the flaps.

It's a couple of hundred pumps to raise OR lower the flaps. To make my life more enjoyable the pump makes a terrible screeching sound and the inside of the Lanc quickly turns into a sweatbox.

That being said, I get to work on and fly in a Lancaster!!
