Did the F/A-18A Hornets of the 1987 Blue Angels have the fences added to
the LERX or was that done on later teams. Thanks---John

I don't understand your answer, the LERX was always there, I
was asking about the small WING FENCE added to the LERX on
later A and all C models. I believe the first couple years of F/A-18As
BLUE ANGELS, did not have the WING FENCE. The LERX was always there. I believe it
is actually LERX, Leading Edge Root eXtension.---John

I was referring to the wing fence. Seen here on this Canadian Hornet.---John

from Wikipedia

"This may have contributed to early problems with fatigue cracks appearing on the vertical stabilizers due to extreme structural loads, resulting in a short grounding in 1984 until the stabilizers were strengthened. Starting in May 1988, a small vertical fence was added to the top of each LEX to broaden the vortices and direct them away from the vertical stabilizers."

" starting in May 1988"

Blues received first F/A 18's in 1987 .
