I believe the late F2  version had the double baffel style like appeared on the G version?  Anyone care to clarify?  Aber has a 1/16 scale muzzle brake which might work with the Trumpeter Panzer IV F2 kit.  Comments will be appreciated.

Yes. The rounded, single baffle brake is the early G and the double baffle brake is the late G.  The Panzer IV F with the short 75mm gun was to be upgraded and it was decided that the F would become the F1 and the revised version would be known as the F2.  But, by the time the changes were implemented and the vehicle was being produced, it was decided that there were enough changes to warrant a new designation, the Ausf. G.  The terms F1 and F2 were dropped and the F was just the F and if the tank had the long gun it was a G.

Now, like most tanks, there were a lot of differences between the early G and the late G. The early G was  more similar to the F and the later G was more like the Ausf H with the double baffled muzzle brake, schurzen armor etc. Before you purchase random aftermarket parts you would want to examine your kit and decide what version it best represents (early, late, etc.) and then work from photos of the real tank to see if you can use the aftermarket stuff.
