Hi all

I have an old Monogram A-4 Aggressor,kit 5411

The paint scheme with the all black national insignias on the box top,did it ever exist for real ? Or is it fictitious ?

I actually found the aircraft picture, but with red/white & blue national insignias.

serial number is 154976 and it's an A-4F from VMA-142

if you can help....

thanks
Alain

... it is not an aggressor. It was a water-based paint used as a test in a Marine unit. Note the tail code "MB". The colors are not F.S. matched. The scheme is totally non-standard. And, it is an A-4F "super fox" that actually wore the scheme.

Hi David

First, congradulation on all your work you show us on Hyperscale, always inspiring. You're one of my favorite builder.

I found the picture of it.

It's the all black national insignias that I'm intrigued.

Do you know if it wore those at any time ?

Thanks

Hi Mike

I have some picture of the actual aircraft.

It's the all black star & bars that are questionnable.

I'm just curious if they were really applied. In the picture I have, they in regular red/white & blue

Hello Alain.
The early Aggressors had a varity of scemes. I don't have any Skyhawks in this one but I do have some A6E'S here at Whitbey Island NAS. In the same colours. If you would like these photos email me and I can send them along.

... the black insignia may have been used at some point, but I doubt it (unless someone has a photograph to prove it). The time period the brown camouflage painting was done pre-dated a lot of the low-vis markings.
