As romantic and storied as it is (Oh what a history),can we now look at it with a more critical eye?
And I must have built 20 of them over the years!

the F4 is 52 years old. I'm just one year older.

weird how dated and time get kinda fuzzy over the years, but I never
thought of the Phantom as being over 50 years old.

Before I retired from the Air Force, I had to go TDY to Davis Monthan, and I had the opportuniy to tour the boneyard. It did not do me one bit of good to see F-4Es and F-111As that I recognized by tail numbers from when I had worked on them. I never thought of them as being old, but seeing them there being stripped down sure made ME feel old!

Both were in the process of being brought into the USAF inventory when I went into the Air Force 30+ years ago. I still remember getting totally excited the first time I saw early F-16's "in the flesh" when I was just a young-pup airman.

All the F4s I've seen have aged better than I have.
