This is some construction pics of Amodel's 1/72nd BE-10. The model is now finished, and the base isn't far of. It will be set on a water base. Construction has been enjoyable, and not a hard build at all. 138527_0.jpg 20171009_200100.jpg 20171009_200122.jpg

Very nice, I was impressed with the kit when I built mine, although I found that the kit's canopy masks stuck down too firmly which messed up some framing. Did you use yours? 3.JPG
I look forward to seeing yours on water, I should think it will really set it off nicely. Flying boats always look a bit ungainly on their beaching gear, and the Be-10 is a sleek looking beast that deserves to look its best..
Cheers,
Mark

Hi Mark,

No real issues with the masks. I did have some bleed through, and I didn't get canopy and nose glass blended in too well to the fuse. I just got to the stage where I was wanting it finished.

Thanks Glen,

Maybe mine were just extra sticky, or perhaps being Futured affected the adhesion.

Almost finished. The Be-10 just needs the tip floats added and the base is just about finished.

Finally managed to get some garage time in to work on the base.

With the cut out done, it was then boxed in. The Be-10 was then chocked up to the right height and level, using a few of my sons building blocks, and these were glued to the base.

I wanted to make the cut out as close to the fuse as possible, while still keeping the model removable. So I mixed up some molding silicon, laid some cling wrap over the top, and the nestled the Be-10 in.

She popped out nicely and easily, whilst still maintaining a firm snug fit. Happy!

Final work on the base is to now finish of the edges, respray, and glue on the water. 20180625_221849.jpg 20180625_221910.jpg

That will look great! Is this the first Amodel kit you built? They have made some kits I am interested in but hesitant to buy.

Hi Makarovii,

This is my 2nd Amodel kit. The first was their 1/144 Canadair CL-215. Dont even know why I built that one!

Dont be hesitant in buying, they are nice kits, they are limited run, so don't forgot that, and do require some work, sanding, filing, repeat, repeat, repeat. But very rewarding when done.

This one required a bit of work where the wings met the fuse, engine nacelles, and was a process, but when you see the transformation taking shape and finished, you get a great sense of achievement. Well I did.

Lately I've found myself buying and building a lot of limited run kits for this reason, and not just for the subject matter. I also see it as value for money.

Buy with confidence, but be prepared to be a modeler and to do some modelling hours.

Glen
