Here is the second kit that came in the Matchbox box as an unexpected bonus (both kits cost me £2 from an under-the-table stash at IPMS Brampton Model Show) .  I decided to build it in the markings of an aircraft from USS Lexington, because I had never tried that colourful scheme before and really enjoyed it. The 40 year old kit decals needed a lot of bleaching in our pale English sun and even then I couldn't get all the brown from the carrier film out.  I painted over the wing and fuselage stripes with Humbrol French Blue (number 14) to match the cowling.

The last Airfix Buffalo I built was as a teenager, when I converted it to a captured Japanese example, using an article from Airfix Magazine.  Here are both shown together:

Apparently, newer editions of the kit contain very good quality decals so i will hunt around for one.  I enjoyed building a model in the colourful pre-war US Navy scheme and will try a Douglas Dauntless next.

Happy modelling everyone!

JB

If you upload directly from your hard drive instead of linking via questionable links from imgur (I only see links embedded in HTML fragments on which I have to click to see your photos), your photos will appear directly in your post.
Information not shared is information lost.

Hello Jens
Thanks for you message. I've tried coping the complete image file but it doesn't seem to display it.  I've loaded another imgur link (there's a choice of 6 for each image!) in the hop that slightly better.
kind regards
JB

That has turned out really well - nice clean build of that fairly old kit - well done.
