Thanks for that Claus,
I never knew that scale model kits (Airfix or any other), made an entry into television advertising.
I doubt if it (or something similar) was ever broadcast over here in the antipodes.

A very simple but effective message.....I wonder were those hands are now.

That's absolutely awesome, the one I remember seeing features a kid walking into a toy store and there's a huge display of Airfix kits at the counter and at the end of the ad he's holding a built 1/24 Spitfire.

I remember the Matchbox one which among other things flashed a picture of the completed Hurricane IIc sitting on a shiny table surface. I was saving my pocket money for one at the time and I’d scramble up to the television and wait for it every time the commercial came on.

Yes, it started off with the model Hurricane and then cut to war time footage of one landing and you also saw the M24 Chaffee.

I never saw an ad for Airfix on Australian TV, but I do have a recollection of a Matchbox ad at some stage, maybe late 1970s?
