Still going through the several thousand Life photos Ive downloaded and have a few more today that I could use some help identifying. (I also have a whole folder full of civilian light planes that Im totally clueless on.) I appreciate everyones help and hope I dont wear out my welcome with all these questions.

There were several different cowl configurations, but this is almost certainly a YP-37

I can't remember where. I think it had a Retractable wing system. Might have been in a AHJ. I'll keep looking

There's a Cessna T-50/UC-78 hidden under the weird shell. The landing gear is unmodified, and the props are on extension shafts.

There was a description of this thingie in an old magazine I would probably take hours to find, but I do recall the Bamboo Bomber part.
