Just received these for my 1/48 Revell A-10. They are
48-911 Superscale two tone gray City of Southwick. Are
these OIF decals? Was this an A-10A or an OA-10A.
B and D version Mavericks different colors? I know seeker
heads are. Thanks---John
They are A-10A's there is NO external difference between the A and the OA versions there are a # of airframes in each squadron that were designated "OA"'s , mainly for funding purposes. The same jet could be used as an OA if a qualified FAC pilot is driving it and thats what the mission calls for. The only thing different you may see as a modeller is a 7 shot rocket pod for smoke rockets. That would be on station 2 or 10 usually or both. If the A/C is going to be used as an "A"-10 we may leave the rocket pod up and just pull the smoke rockets out and upload HE rockets.
As far as Mavericks go the "B" models were white and the "D" models were OD. However as time went on most of the B models had od spray paint applied over the white paint, while trying to avoid the stencilling. It wasn't very pretty!
