I'm looking for 1/72 WW2 Jeeps with .50 cal MGs. I looked int he local shop, and they didn't have any 1/72 Jeeps in stock. I have found a few Jeeps in the is scale on line, but I can't tell if they include a .50 cal MG.

The only thing I did find (so far) has the Hasegawa 1/72 aircraft vehicles set, but it looks like that might come with a .30cal pedestal mount.....

I'm hoping that someone here can point me to a kit......

The Academy kit, which is accompanied by some German bits in the box is a much more recent release than the Hasegawa kit. It includes a .50 cal MG.

Here's a link.

Hope this helps,

.... That's the one I was thnking of when I said Hasegawa. The pic you linked to is much better than the one I found-- I can see that is a .50, and not a .30.

Having said that, that Jeep does look odd-- the ratio of metal to glass in the windshield looks way off-- the glass section looks awfully small!

Wonder if there are any others out there..........

The Airfix/Heller Jeep is not bad. It does not come with a .50 (rarely fitted to the jeep compared to the .30) I would not buy a Jeep just because it came with the .50... its easier to get a good Jeep then add a .50 yourself.

Dragon has a new Jeep but its much too small for 1/72 so it seems they made a boo boo in scaling.

than if you build from scratch, which is what working with the IM kits amounts to.

Sorta like the old airfix kit... The jeep that comes with the old LVT is pretty ugly...

towards the bottom of this page are some measurements of the Dragon Jeep. The reviewer leans towards calling this 1/76th scale.

Squadron lists the Heller kit as their stock # HR79997, per link as follows:

http://www.squadron.com/ItemDetails.asp?item=HR79997

Another Google hit lists the Heller Kit No. as 71234

Box art looks the same for Airfix 72002, & Heller HR79997 & 71234.

I assume theses are all the same kit - correct?
