On another page, last week, I saw someone mention that they were starting to build the Combat Models 1/48 KC-135 vacuform kit. I looked on the Combat Models website to learn more about this kit and only saw it mentioned as a new release "in 2012." Do any of you have any experience with this kit? What model KC-135 is it? Does it come with decals? Any info at all? Google searches have produced no information whatsoever. Thanks.

You will have to create strips of alignment plastic to the edges nearly everywhere.

And at that size it is going to need a tremendous amount of internal stiffening.

Unless you just absolutely have to have one in 1/48, you are very likely far better off to use the Italeri 1/72 injection kit.

I once had a Combat Models 1/32 T-2C model ... there were major problems with the parts -- without cutting them from the matrix, it was obvious that outlines and contours did not match from one side to the other. I sold the kit on E-bay.

The idea of a 1/48 scale Stratotanker is what caught my eye. I build almost entirely in 1/48 and I thought it would be good to have the tanker alongside the fighter's I have. I understand the "difficulties" of building in vacuform, especially in such a large kit, but I have seen nothing about it other than the guy mentioning it on the other page. I'm curious.

Until I saw one on eBay a while back. The hideous shape cured me of wanting one real fast. No way did I want to invest that much effort into something so wrong. It's not like it was just a correction here and there either. Did not have that elegant Boeing look in any way.

....some of the earlier Combat Models DO have some issues, but...sounds like Homebee doesn't want to do all the work that's needed to make a decent vac model(that's what you 'sign-up for' when building a vac kit)...thinking vacs are "shake-n-bake"....
