Looking for a good deal on a Spyder RT.
Must be an RT, which has the touring trunk and side cases.

Would prefer the 2014 and newer years, due to the bigger inline 3 cylinder engine (1330cc), but price may not allow it.

Prefer the SM (manual) transmission over the SE (automatic) version.

I think the market price will be somewhere in the $14-16K range, for a '14-15 model year with a reasonable number of miles.

If anyone comes across one, I'd appreciate the assistance in the search.

Allan,

In my hometown, there is one RT for sale close to the $14k-$16k range.

https://greenville.craigslist.org/mcy/d ... 79305.html  white 2014 with 7400 miles, automatic, $16.5k

I highly recommend Can Am's semi-automatic transmission.  It works flawlessly and has some convenient features, including -

1. It automatically downshifts when the engine speed lowers to 2000 rpm.  Consequently, without the rider having to do anything it downshifts from 6th gear to 1st gear while approaching a stop light or stop sign.  Therefore you are never, ever stuck in a higher gear than 1st trying to accelerate after the light changes, plus due to the centrifugal clutch you can sit waiting for the light with the transmission in gear.

2.  It also sounds like the perfect clutchless downshift, whereby the throttle is blipped and the shift occurs.  It sounds cool, and makes everyone else think, wow that dude knows how to perform a flawless, clutchless downshift.

3.  You can downshift via the paddle if you want, and it is advantageous to do so when you are going around a turn since if you do not you will have that half second delay while it downshifts after you have rolled on the throttle.

4.  Upshifting via paddle is fast, much faster and easier than a human could upshift.

5.  You never have to worry about missing a shift.  Tap the paddle and it smoothly shifts in 0.4 seconds.

That’s what I did, Allan. I bought a used low mileage and loaded up ‘04 GL1800 / CSC trike and never looked back. Although I do miss riding my Tourer and 2 wheels in general, the more I rode the trike...the more We both enjoyed riding it. My wife won’t ride anything else now.
