I changed my Stator , reinstalled everything and the clutch worked fine . I had to remove the cover a second time because it wasn't  charging due to a pinched wire during installation and now the clutch won't engage . When squeezing the clutch the cable only moves 25 percent of its normal travel , then its solid / no movement .

pull the outer rear cover again, clutch cable probably came unhooked and is now caught up or not setting in there correctly., seem to remember mine doing something like that also.

Thanks Cleve . The cover is off and the cable moves freely . The only difference between this install and the first is that the cable came disconnected from the part that activates the clutch during disassembly  . I removed the cable and tried engaging the clutch by hand but it only moves 1/4 of the way and then stops .

Another thing , the clutch handle would spring back into place when pulled  at first , but now when pulled , there is not enough tension for it to spring back .... Because of getting the same results when trying to engage the clutch by hand and through the cable , I don't believe its the cable .

Did you have the 3 bolt triangle clutch  arm holder mounting plate off (been several years since I was in mine) if so, there may be something in there not correct. thinking maybe the arm spun halfway around from spring tension, so it's not pulling correctly now, also a lifter piece in there that has to be oriented correctly (that sounds familiar,,,)   will send a PM with my phone

Thanks to Cleve , the issue has been resolved . The small piston in the 3 bolt cover was sliding out during the installation . I put everything together and made sure the piston stayed in place , and the clutch started working . I just might make the Rot Rally here in Texas this weekend .
