Last September, early afternoon on a nice sunny day I took the 2005 Silverwing scooter for a short ride. Due to road works and posted speed limits, I was stuck behind a crewcab pulling a heavy trailer. My helmet was white, and I was fully geared up. We both took the off ramp off the highway, and he pulled to the right. I am thinking he is being a nice guy and letting lighter traffic go by. I was going 60 or so km/h because there is a merge area not too far into the ramp. I start by his trailer and what does he do ! Cuts right across my path: nowhere to go but into his crewcab door. I bounced off the door after breaking it with my helmet and land on the ground. He said he'd forgotten some item in town and was going back !!!! pulling an illegal u-turn.
A broken rib, banged up right knee and a sore neck. 8 weeks of forced minimal strain and assorted pain killers and anti-inflammatories. Getting better , slow but sure. The insurance replaced the scooter and my gear. So far so good.
My jacket is fully armored, boots are solid hiking type, summer leather gloves and I was wearing Bohnarmor pants. I think my full gear saved me from any worse injuries. And I was going for a short ride: no such thing !
Be careful out there even if you are heading for a pint of milk around the corner.

I also have been the victim of someone pulling an illegal U-turn. Fortunately, for me, I did not run into that car, but I did crash, when I locked-up the front brake, resulting in a broken bone in my hand. It is frustrating when dealing with people who drive recklessly. AGATT saved me from further injury too. It is good you were not hurt worse. Thanks for sharing.

I've been wearing Kevlar lined Draggin jeans. Been thinking I really need to add armor to them. The Bohm stuff looked really good. I've got two knee replacements, and I need to protect them. You don't wanta be redoing them. I work in surgery, and have been there when someone screwed up.Hard to fix and complicated. *Really* a bad thing. Probably wait till next month. Going to WSB at Laguna Seca, and Bohm always has a booth, and special prices there.....
