Front end swap. two threaded section on steering stem. Lower threaded section meets at the top of the top bearing so im unable to tighten the front end.

Per allballs the frame steering bearings are 14mm wide/tall the front end frame call for 14 and 15mm bearing. Am i missing something or should the frame bearings be short enough to allow for the threaded portion to come above the top bearing?

The swap kit calls for a 12 and 13mm bearing. so 3 mm of threads would show - in my opinion still not enough. Ideas? the top bearing race is 1-2mm above the neck (all ball bearings to match the frame)

can you post a pic of your steering stem, triple tree, and frame neck?

I cannot at the moment. Not sure how that would help. Both are not cb750. Neck is xs650, stem is cb650

sounds like you need to have a new stem made to fit, or else match everything you are putting together. kinda like putting putting an 18" tire onto a 16" rim.  the right inner tube wont keep the tire on the rim...

yes and no. XS650 bearings are 13 and 12mm. CB650 conversion bearings are 14 and 12. 25 and 26. So I should have enough room. Unless someone used a different triple tree but it came off the cb650 frame and had the stock bearings in it.

unless a 26x48x14 and 25x48x14 bearing are some how different in height.

Ok, WTF. the cb650 and cb750 bearings are the same size (i have not measured the necks, but info on the net says the cb650 neck is .5" shorter...) but the stems are about .5" different as well. On Allballs site the conversions bearings are the same for cb650 and 750. Whatever, bolted up a 750 front end. At least I can have my spoked wheels now.

i am sure their kit makes sure the bearings fit, which would not stretch or shorten a steering stem...

Right. But it would be nice if they went a step further for the steering stems. Which I think they do, why else would the height of bearings change?
