I'm getting into CNC engraving.  Still getting all the features up and running (plus learning how to use them).  At the moment I can do anything that's flat.  I have a fixture for cam covers, and I can crank them out pretty easily.  I can digitize and set up a program to cut pictures you send me for custom designs like your board name, chopper name, logo, etc.  I hope in the next couple months to be able to scan and engrave on curved surfaces.  Price depends on the size, complexity, and set-up work required (like fixtures).  Contact me for details.

Here are two cam covers I recently did:

That's a really cool idea.
If you make me open this . . . I'm gonna use the whole can.

What program are you using to lay those out? being curious, just spent the last year doing autocad, ultragraphix NX, and solidworks, wondered if they would do that?

I'm generating the toolpaths for these with a program called VCarve Pro. It's geared heavily toward engraving and some small CAM canned cycles like pockets and outside profiles. I'm putting the g-code through a program for z-compensation for when covers aren't quite flat (still working the bugs out of that part) and then through LinuxCNC. Solidworks or UG could make a .dxf, but you'd still need some CAM program to generate the G-code. I've been meaning to try HSMWorks for more complicated machining. A friend of mine has it and says it's surprisingly good. There's a free version if you wanted to give it a shot.

Now offering points covers as well. The covers are brand new machined from 6061 and lightly tumbled for a semi-gloss finish. They offer a ~4" diameter surface for engraving, onto which I can put a variety of custom art. Board name, bike name, logo, vintage artwork, etc. Below is a cover I did last week for a friend's wedding present as an example. I have 9 covers up for sale in the first batch. They are $125-shipped with engraving and include new stainless bolts. If you're interested PM me with your thoughts/plans for the engraving and we can work it out from there. I can do v-bit and ball-milled engraving at this time. I'm working on letters in solid relief (with a very very very small end mill) but haven't worked out the bugs yet. The example below was done with a v-bit. Also check out my other thread on engraved cam covers for more examples of the engraving I can do.

Bump. Thru the end of the year (or until I run out of blank covers) I'm offering a Christmas special.  $100 shipped CONUS for a brand new engraved points cover with the artwork of your choice.  PM me for details.
