MapForge allows you to use your own images. You simply drag-and-drop them into the app.

Mapforge seems to be the tool i needed. I have a big project for a 3D modular dungeon, and i think i"m gonna pledge, because all i won't have done in 3D (with HA molds) will be done on a map buiding software and printed (for D&D). And i think Mapforge will help me :)

That's great, I hope you find it very useful, Banane.

Here's a link to some suggestions for printing the maps.

Naloomi wrote: An option would be to either allow importing of custom images (which has its own problems) or allow the creation of larger custom objects from the smaller bricks within your software. Allowing the creation within the software is something very few softwares allow (i’ve tried many) but, IMO, would give you and the end user better control of the image and how it sits, while allowing the end user to also integrate their HA dungeons into their DF collection.

Naloomi is correct, which is why some users use software like Sketchup. It allows for individuals to create custom blocks, arrange them into pieces, and then use those pieces to create dungeons in a 3D environment. However, Sketchup has a high learning curve (in my opinion), plus you either have to rely on the community to create accurate to-scale pieces for each mold, or make your own... again for each mold.

This may be a bigger scope than you were originally anticipating, but my hope is that you'll take up the challenge as your software looks pretty slick.

It certainly sounds like I underestimated what's involved. This really all started when I proposed to the Dwarven Forge folks that I'd like to offer a replacement of sorts for their aging (nearly defunct?) Map Maker web app. Which led to the idea of making it generically support any 3D terrain tile brand.

By the way Heruca, why is there a new project on Indiegogo ? The Mapforge software wasn't funded with the Kickstarter project ?

Yes, it was funded by the KS. However, development of the app and the 50 content Add-Ons for it took much longer than expected. Ripple-effect delays in getting the MapForge web store operational meant that no one would be able to purchase the software or Add-Ons for it until possibly March (which is when I am now expecting the MapForge web store to be ready). So I am running this short "pick up" campaign on Indiegogo to give folks who missed the Kickstarter campaign one last chance at pre-order discounts.

You can read more about why the Indiegogo campaign was necessary here.

I have no idea where you are seeing "Read more". Are you on a mobile device, or a computer?

I can't copy the entire campaign page here.
