diet type: low carb
goal: lose 40lbs but will take 20lbs lol
recent activities: swimming and walking
whatever else relevant: having hot flashes again but maybe it's the heat.

Last week we were at a (rented) cottage. It was so much fun! I got a break from being my kids constant go-to person (I love them but even that could wear down a saint. DH works 7 days a week. can you say burn-out?) and because we were at the cottage, I just had to have a drinky-poo every day. A nice girlie drink called Pink Russian. yum. too sweet and with every glass I was thinking of the carbs LOL

So when I stepped on the scale a week later I was very relieved to see I had only gained 4lbs. seriously. I was braced for more.

Took me a few days to get fully back on the low-carb diet but I think I am back on Feeling bloated, moody and menopausal though. No sign of fert cm all month and I am on day 33 which is around the time I get AF these days. I am also getting these flushes of heat--hot flashes??

Why can't evolution "cure" women from hormonal "problems" and while we are at it, what's with painful labour?? Evolve that out please. Not that I am ttc, I am just saying.

I'm sure it was much needed!

I'm with you about the hormonal stuff. I went off the pill last month and I'm already hating not being on it. My hormones are a messy wreck. ugh.

I've lost ten pounds since restarting Weight Watchers. My weight might have been artificially elevated there at the beginning, but I will take it. I'm still about ten pounds from where I want to be (although I could certainly stand to lose more than that), but I feel really strong. I've been doing TRX twice a week and spinning once a week and trying to get on my exercise bike at home a couple of times, too. I haven't stopped drinking alcohol entirely (or even limiting it to the weekends, unfortunately), but I have cut back considerably, and I know that helps.

Our YMCA is having a bit of a close down in the coming weeks, and I'm going to have to find some other ways to work out at home without TRX, or I will be so sore when I get back to it. The trainer says it's good to take a break from it, but I don't know...

If you've got the motivation to workout at home, get one of those ridiculous Jillian Michaels (or whatever that Biggest Loser trainer's name is) and go for it!

Even if I could live without her "don't phone it in" lingo-isms that make me feel so unhip, she does offer a good workout!

Way to go on the weight. My new health insurance offers a discount on Weight Watchers, but I have a hard time thinking it's a plan I could do--i need mindless and straightforward rules, not options! But, you're success sure is, once again and always, inspiring!!

yay for vacations that are really breaks. for me, since dd is in daycare when we are at home, vacations are fun but so much work! -- you know, the kind of work that you do every day, day in and day out...!Wow.

crazy how easy it is to gain vs lose, isn't it? sometimes i try to remember that as i reach for a cookie... sometimes...

well, every pound that you go down now, you'll appreciate when you start really working out in the fall. You'll just feel that much better. (today, i thought the scale was going to read heavy and i was all set not to go to the gym. it read regular and i threw on my workout clothes and was out the door. now how crazy backwards is that?? i guess this is an example of success breeding success!)

sorry to hear you are having hormonal challenges too. What a pain, eh??

I took some HRT type herbal stuff today. I think the dose if menopausal is 3 a day so one a day should do me. Will see if it can't nudge things along. This stuff is found in the vitamin isle.

Made cookies with DD this afternoon. guess how many I "sampled". geez. I love to bake but boy oh boy is it hard to resist. When I resist, I am really strong but I just had to have a nibble and bam, 4 cookies went down before I could think. lol

They were yummy. Sugar cookies with tons of sprinkles on top, the coloured sugar type sprinkles. DD enjoyed piling it on.

Thanks for commiserating.

I like your attitude

and yes, again a case for evolution--stop with the easy weight gain already! lol

cookies are good. They are so yummy! I want to try Renata's cookies next. I was going to try them this afternoon but knew that my DD would run from the room when she saw the bananas. I really don't get that girl. Bananas. I love 'em, we all love 'em SHE used to love 'em. In fact I want to dig out the movie I took of her eating one while in the high chair, making nom nom sounds and show her, maybe she'll at least consider tasting them again. In cake maybe. Where I can sneak some other veg or inulin pwdr at least. roll eyes.

hugs
