Please forgive me because sharing this is total self-indulgence...I try not to do this much, but I just am so dang proud of the whole moment and how amazing it was for all 3 of us..

This clip from the Robing Ceremony was just posted. I'm sure I'm breaking all kinds of my own self-imposed privacy guidelines, but I just had to share. Maybe, KM, can take it down in a few days?

The whole thing is very touching. We come in at the end. My adviser is the best!

It was a wonderful, touching clip.

My fil asked what I was watching & I told that someone from one of my support boards had earned a degree. I said none of us in the family would have our boys to enjoy if it hadn't been for the women of these boards. So yep, I'm so proud of you & so amazed. Great job!!!!!!!!!!!! And it's true. If not for the women of these boards, I wouldn't have children & I will never forget that, so I share in the celebration of your accomplishment!

(Edited to remove identifying info. - I thought better of that this morning, since you plan to remove the clip at some point.)

Thank you for sharing this wonderful end to your hard work and your terrific achievement with us. (DD's hair looks beautiful! That's also quite an achievement to celebrate!)

The ceremony and the tremendous amount of effort you spent to reach such a special moment is something that brings tears to my eyes. How wonderful that DD was recognized too. You both should be really proud!

Enjoy your success and all the benefits you reap from your efforts in the future!

....you've achieved so much and as a single mom, to boot. I was already impressed that you'd gotten your Ph.D. Now I see that it's from Harvard, yet! I love that DD graduated "with" you, and that you were blessed with such an extraordinary adviser. What a gift to the whole process to have worked so closely with someone who recognized and honored DD, too.

She looks adorable, by the way. I can just imagine the stories she'll tell about her 'graduation' from Harvard at age four! [I imagine she'll reflect on this special experience with you at her future graduation(s)....isn't that another wonderful legacy of this moment?]

Two things: I noticed DD's hair immediately! It looks great! I had wanted to reply to your long-ago post about the breakthrough in DD's hair-washing but never got the chance. I am in awe of your fortitude as a parent...allowing her to go for as long as she needed until she was ready. Eight months, if I remember correctly? You could write an article about that!!

Second, for some reason, I've always pictured you as a brunette. It's lovely to see the 'real' you even for a few seconds--so great to have a lovely face to put with your board name and always-insightful advice. Your beaming smile says it all -- the connection between you and DD is beautiful to see, and I wish you a bounty of blessings as you and DD enter the next chapter of your lives together.

Congratulations again on all your tremendous accomplishments, and thank you so much for sharing this personal video with us. It made my day, and I'm honored to have witnessed such a beautiful moment!

xoxox,
k.

I am such a sap for ceremony and ritual. That just brought tears to my eyes. Your daughter is so beautiful, as are you!! And can I just say what a wonderful thing for your program director to have done for your DD--very impressive and speaks a lot to the tone of the department.

Congratulations again on your fabulous accomplishment. You've earned a little "self-indulgence"!!!

Harvard!!! I had no idea! Congratulations a thousand times over, Tara. How thrilling. And dd was lovely! What a sweet, kind thing for your adviser to do for her!

I'm pretty sure you can edit out the link whenever you wish, but if you find you can't, just let me know.

Again, congratulations!!

I had a lump in my throat and a tear in my eye as well. It is a beautiful clip.

And OMG, Harvard? I'll have to take your sage advice on education and life with even more consideration now!

What are your next professional steps?

Thank you so much for sharing.
