What are others' experiences on the approach to menopause? This is totally out of the usual for me. Not a heavy flow, but still...

(I might not even notice, except that I've started dating someone enough that this is, uh, inconvenient. The bleeding started 4 days after we DTD. Couldn't be related, could it? That was the first time I've had sex since dd was born...)

Do I just wait it out or is there a reason/benefit to seeing my doctor?

I was down to one week/month, maybe 10 days, when there was no red. I think I had that for a couple of years. I think my only option was hormones.

Bleeding for 12 days, good grief. Curious if you had any pain when you DTD? I remember the first time after my first born I was sore for a long time. I would call the GYN, to me 12 days is out of the ordinary.

Woohoo on the new relationship

Personally, 12 days seems like a long time to me. I would just pop in for a routine check and let them know about the recent sex. They can double check some hormone levels perhaps and make sure all is OK.

Menopause, no I don't have long periods. I think that some do, mine at the moment are pretty much normal. Before DS though I used to bleed a lot. Not heavy at all, light flow that would last for days ... and days .... longest was 16 days. At the time it was uneven hormone balance, we were ttc so I had a lot of tests. I had progesterone and it sorted me out.

Check it out though
Hugs

I guess I will call my doctor tomorrow. Do you remember what you took, if anything?

No pain, but remember this is 4.5 years post-partum, I doubt many women get the "luxury" of waiting that long!

Thanks for the woohoo. We'll see how it goes. Not holding my breath (or trying not to). Live in the moment and enjoy it for what it is while it is.

I'm kind of trying to be a good "rules" girl (did you catch that whole thing when it came out about 10 years ago?), but it is so not my nature!

The long periods were inconvenient, but I toughed that part out. (DH and I are not frequent flyers.) But the hot flashes finally made me cave in. However, I only took hormones for 3 months and so far (fingers crossed) I'm not on hormones and no hot flashes. AF has come only 1-2x year for the last 2-3 years, and generally are kickstarted by a gyn procedure, hormones, etc. I suspect that if I leave it all alone, I'm probably truly in menopause now.

what was that about ?
The basic premise is that men like to pursue and if we don't let them, they lose interest. So, keep your life busy and full and make the man think it is even busier and fuller!

This leads to rules such as:
Never accept a date for Saturday night after Wednesday.
Never call a man and only return his calls now and then.
Never stay on the phone for more than 10 minutes.
Always be the one to end the date.
Never go away for more than a weekend until you are engaged.
Never bring up "where the relationship is going" until the man does.

It's different from the books about why bitchy women get the men. It is not at all about being bitchy. Sweet as can be and easy to be with and fun, just living a full and happy life rather than rotating around said man.

Although some of the rules may seem a bit much, I do like the idea of living a full and happy life that does not rotate around a man (who, at least for the moment, does not yet rotate his life around you)! All much easier said than done!

Of course, this is just my take on it. Certainly, it can also be read in a way that is quite offensive to many!
