Thanks Joe for great information!

I didn't know there was so many key variations. With three basic versions
and all key pattern, the #94's is a topic itself.

94.jpg Newest addition to the S&W Model 94 collection.
I am trying to get at least 1 for each key section.
N’s, “G” and as of today, “E”
If anybody has a “D”,”H”,“L”,“M”,”R” or "S" for sale, please let me know.
I would like to have one of each.
I do not care if they are 1st, 2nd or 3rd models.

If law enforcement had regular N cuffs, they would not have been sent back to the factory to be 'rekeyed' as this would mean the deriveting of the lock for it to be removed and then the once a new lock (with restricted key) was installed, the whole cuff would have to be replated to cover the ground area over the rear of the new lock once peined. so the frame would have to be stripped of plating before being replated. Overall too expensive. Restricted cuff would have been made to order and letter stamping some and not other would have been an after thought about convenience.

I agree that specially keyed 94's were made as per order at the factory and previously existing N keyed cuffs were not re keyed. However, the lock cylinder itself is not plated.

Version 1, serial number 457470, with unmarked keys
Version 2, serial number 800877, with N marked keys
Version 3, serial number 197883, with N marked keys
Version 3, serial number 028542, with unmarked keys

In the Restricted "D" keys, I have:
Version 1, serial number D (no number), with D marked keys
Version 1, serial number D (no number), with D marked keys

In the Restricted "E" keys, I have:
Version 2, serial number E 279201, with E marked keys

In the Restricted "G" keys, I have:
Version 2, serial number G 446787, with G marked keys

In the Restricted "S" keys, I have:
Version 1, serial number S 5568292, with S marked keys

In Model 94 Special Order, I have, are a Version 2, right hand cuff only, with the S&W logo marked on the front, no markings on the rear.
The cuff is attached to a 30-1/2 inch chain with 8 rings on the end for adjustable locking positions. These were manufactured for S&W salesmen
and staff that traveled with samples of firearms in a case, and these chains could be used for additional security in locking their cases. Depending on the size of the case, one or more of these chains could be locked together, and then cinched tightly buying using the eight adjustable rings.

Thanks for the description and the pics, Dave! I had seen the single cuff 94 with the end rings and was not sure what their use/purpose was? Now, I can see how they were meant to be used. Very interesting piece. I also have common "N" keys in version 1,2 and 3. And a restricted "D" key in a model 1. I have the Gen 3 "N" key belly chains too. That is all I have been able to track down for the model 94, so far.
