Hi, Has anyone anything at all,no matter how trivial,on RAF Skipton on Swale.Any stories, photographs or contact from anyone who served there(air or groundcrew) would be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
My father was a pilot in 424 squadron, he flew Wellingtons then the Halifax bomber. His crew were in the group that served in North Africa for a short time.
I will be getting his log as soon a my sister makes copies for all the family as we are all interested in his service.

Hi Brian, Sorry, my book is out of print (none left)however - I am able to give you much info about your uncle earnest's crew - the F/S H. Lossing crew were dispatched on the night of March 25/26 to bomb Berlin. Pilot Lossing, Nav Robinson, and I think W/ag Davey were presumed/confimed killed in action, also KIA were A/B Dancey and F/Eng Sporne. Undetermined KIA and not found were gunners E. Osbourne and F.E. Simons. I am hopeful you will find the crash sight of Halifax LV841-H-Harry... It is great that a nephew of our airmen is looking for clues to find their (Lossing crews') last resting place. I will look for more gen about the crew --- you can email me --- I will try to help -- Rod
Dear Rod,
Thanks for the info you've sent me regarding my uncle.
It's been a while since i found my way back to this site, due mainly to my laptop going up the cooey.
I came across Lisa's photo of the crew of my uncle's Halifax.
It's the first one I've came across.
Do you have knowledge of the nose art on my uncles aircraft as I would like to add it to the arfix model I'm building.

Have you ever considered doing a re-print of your book?

Many thanks

Brian

Hi Brian...i was just looking at an old post from last year and i came across a familiar name "Sgt. E. Osborne" He was in my uncles crew, his name was D.A. Robinson (Flying Officer, Navigator). They were on the same Halifax LV-841 when it went down....Would you have any pictures of the crew. I already have one, given to me by R. Koval. It's a very nice one by the way.
Not sure if you'll be getting this msg. but i'm taking a chance.
Lise
Hi Lise,
My family have very little about my uncles crew.
We have two photos of Ernest, one in uniform and one in his flying gear.
I've copied the photo off your previous post and will pass it on to my mum.
I do have photos of the headstones at Charlottenburg which i can pass on to you.
They were taken by my parents when they visited the cemetery a few years ago.

Brian

Hey Brian....Thanks so much for your reply. Yes, i would love a picture of all the crews grave site...I'm doing this project and that would complete a section of it. I'm happy that my pic. came in handy and especially showing it to your Mum...Great !!! If i ever find anything else in regards to Sgt. E. Osborne, i will gladly send them to you.
