Hi Dennis, have just come across this site, how interesting it is. My wife Vanessa, is Eddie Prouds daughter, the only survivor of MZ 687. I know there is a copy of the letter Eddie sent to Mrs.Pritchard in Canada, but I can't find any information on the de-briefing after returning as a POW, would be nice to have a copy. Eddie died in 1996 aged 76, he had three sons and a daughter and lived in Northampton, he was cremated at his own request and his ashes, along with his wife's (Betty) are interred at Northampton cemetery. If we can provide any information we would be happy to do so. You can e-mail me if you prefer at, firstname.lastname@example.org.I am the son of the Wireless operator on that aircraft, and I have a picture of the crew, or most of it. Unfortunately, it is partially cut off on the left side, where Tony Roski was standing.
I was in contact with Chris Watts and Josie--?last name Kolbuh in 2010, and we together figured out what happened on the final night. I lost contact with them--the last I heard was that Chris was very sick; however, my understanding was that Chris was sharing the information with the Roski family. I have copies of the Emails we exchanged, and can send them to you, along with the picture I have of the whole crew. There is also a copy of a letter written to Mrs Pritchard by pilot Officer Proud--the Flight Engineer, who was the only survivor; as well I have a copy of P/O Proud's debriefing after coming home from the POW camp. This tells how they were shot down and ditched.
Send me an Email with your Email address, and let me know which of this you would like a copy of.
