Hi Gunny,

Forgot if I mentioned this before-- if I did-bear
with
me--
But my article on the marines in China 1940-41,
entitled LOST LEATHERNECKS, is in the current
issue of
World War II magazine (popular history
bimonthly--can
be gotten in most chain bookstore magazine
sections)-it's the NOV 2005 issue--

also-- speaking of movies-- There will be a
big-budget
film on old Shanghai THE WHITE COUNTESS-- with
natasha
richardson, and others.. Point is, it's
supposedly a
vivid recreation of 1930s-40s shanghai, that some
Old
China Hand marines might enjoy...
One of my good friends is Don Versaw, Fourth
Marine
Band in Shanghai, 1940-41. I'm sure he--and
others
like him would love to see Old Shanghai live
again,
even if the subject is not strictly
military(there are
Japanese spies, White Russians, and an American
club
owner!) Movie is due out this dec...

all best, Eric
