The following photo was sent to me by Peter Flahavin. It is one of several photos of the crew, and others, aboard the USS Hornet, as they launched Doolittle's B-25s for the raid on Tokyo.

When I first saw the photo of two Marines--one a PFC, and the other a gunnery sergeant, I thought they must be wearing USN peacoats with Marine chevrons. I have since been advised by Mr. Flahavin that he believes the Marines are wearing their Marine issue green overcoats, and that they only appear dark or black in the photo. Makes sense.
