Hi Dick,

On November 6th at 4 PM, the city of Fall River will dedicate the Flag Raising Statue on Mt. Suribachi. The monument has been erected near the shores of the Taunton River in Bicentenial Park. It was cast in bronze from a mold made by sculptor Felix DeWelden, the same man who built the larger one in Washington DC. It has taken the city some ten years to complete. Some believe this was DeWelden's original concept and that he later constructed the much larger one in Arlington, because of the unexpected large financial support he received during his fund raising drive.

I have offered to provide the three TV stations in the area, copies of the color film of the actual Iwo Jima flag raising, filmed by Sgt. Bill Genaust in August 1945, with the condition that they give him a film credit. Anyone living in the SE New England area might want to visit Fall River to witness this dedication on Sunday.
