Gunny, There were many "games" played by Marines from making up and passing on rumors, to drinking contests, bragging about sexual conquests, etc., but the one that I liked best was pulling time. I suspect that the reason that I liked this game so much was because I joined the Reserves while a senior in High School in 1939, and could pull time on most WW2 Marines.
Here are a few of the more memorable "Brags."
!) I have wrung more water out of my socks than you have seen.
2) I have passed more light houses than you have telephone poles.
3) I have worn out more sea bags than you have sox.

It took only a few hours - even minutes - to give one an insurmountable
advantage in pulling time on another Marine, even to the point of referring to him as a recruit.
I'd be interested hearing from others on this game and hearing of other "Brags" Les
