The Summer season ended on a high note with best entry, best weather and best meeting in two years. The highlight was the Media Challenge with the added entry of the victorious Guernsey Fire Brigade and John Tostevin from Guernsey Police. Shane le Poidevin won both reverse gear races and a "Shoebox race" netted a win for Driver of the Day Nathan Pinchemain.
With the Police and Fire Brigade driving in the whole meeting with their own cars, the practice they gained before the Media Challenge paid dividends as they were challenged for honours in the early laps of the main race. Previous winner Markey T from Island FM led until lap 6 when defending Champion Rob Moore (ITV) took the lead for 3 laps, Markey T came back and spun Moore out of the lead allowing Jarrod Tuian (Police) and Matt Rogers (Fire Brigade) to pass. Rogers took the lead on the last lap and was followed home by Tuian and a closing Markey T. There were some spirited driving in this race a of number of the car owners had repairs to do before the next race. Most of the media drivers used the ramp during the race.
Shane le Poidevin proved a master of reverse gear when he won the 3 lap reverse gear from a charging Leeroy Sebire, just securing the win as he crossed the finish line. The latter also took honours in the J turn race from Warren Boscher in this race consisting of 2 reverse and 4 forward laps. He won the two Only the Best do it Backwards Trophy's from John and Victoria.
A last minute addition to the programme was a Shoebox race for very small cars around 1100cc. This was dominated by Nathan Pinchemain after the only rollover of the day when Nathan Harradine rolled his Nissan Micra, causing a red flag. The re start had Pinchemain in front and he took the flag from Derek Brown by a comfortable margin.
The Rear wheel drive race saw a lot of sideways driving from eventual Devil Drivers Trophy winner Jamie Le Page from Pinchemain in a large BMW. Snake Lowe's large Mercedes showed promise but was finding a traction problem on corners.
The Finals were won by Shaun Bichard's rapid Honda after seeing off the challenge of Richard Smith and Craig Horsepool for the Sarnia Auto's Trophy.
The final race of the day was the 20 lap Grand Slam for the Joe Merrien Trophy. A number of drivers lead this race including Pinchemain, Kevin Horsepool,on his annual appearence, Mick Bichard and Sebire. Eventually the leading pack drove into each other and Simon Carre passed into a never to be lost lead. Although Richard Smith got close as they met traffic, Carre held on to win the longest race of the year.

Every Club and Committee members wishes to thank all helpers, spectators and their family and friends for a great end to a good racing year. Racing resumes on Chouet Beach in Autumn.
