Gunner is a lovely solid black 7 year old (8 in April), GSP boy from German blood-lines.  He is sadly seeking a new home through no fault of his own as his owners are moving abroad to accommodation/area that is not suitable for him, so they have made the sad decision to find him a new home.

He is in good health.
He is an average sized boy standing 25” weighing 30 kgs.
He is vaccinated, microchipped and legally docked.  HE is not currently neutered, which would need to be done within 6 months by his new owner as per the terms of our Adoption contract.
He is friendly with humans of all ages, and has lived with older teenagers.
He is fine with other dogs, but his cat status is unknown as he has never lived with a cat.
Similarly, he has not been around other livestock except when on the lead.  He has always ignored the animals in the fields.
Gunner walks well on the lead.

As with many GSPs, his recall is OK unless distracted by interesting smells etc., but he does come back before too long.
Gunner is used to being left alone while his owners work.  He has free run of the downstairs of the home without any issues.
Gunner travels well in the car.

His favourite thing is long walks in the countryside.
Gunner is not happy walking near heavy traffic.
Gunner has never shown any signs of being fearful.
Gunner has never shown any aggression nor bitten any person or other dog.
Gunner sleeps in his own bed downstairs at night.
When left at home, he has access to the kitchen, dining room and reception room.
Gunn is fed twice a day on good quality Kibble + Nature’s Diet meat.
Gunner has never received any formal training but has a reasonable level of basic obedience i.e. sit, come and stay.
Gunner’s only bad habit is that he can run off in large open spaces, but he does keep track of his owners and always finds his way back to them.

Gunner is looking for an experienced GSP home.  He is happy being an only dog, but would equally enjoy the company of another.  Gunner can live with dog-savvy children.  As his cat-status is unknown, he could be OK with a dog-savvy cat.  Gunner would benefit from some training on his recall – likely best achieved by getting him to work when on a walk i.e. retrieving or tracking or similar to keep his brain engaged on you, rather than doing his own thing.
Gunner is currently living near Stockport, Cheshire.

Please get in touch if you are interested in offering this lovely straight-forward lad a new home.

Gunner is expecting visitors at the end of March.  (Delays caused by the terrible weather and holiday commitments).  We hope his new potential adoptive family and Gunner hit it off! :-)

So good luck to all concerned.

Gunner received visitors yesterday and all went well and he has gone to join a new family with their 2 children.

I have spoken to them this morning, and all going well.  Gunner has been a bit barky - understandable in a new environment, but he is much more settled today having been for a couple of walks, and was asleep when I rang.

We look forward to receiving updates and pictures soon. :-)
