All the visual wonder director Rupert Sanders can muster is not nearly enough to save Snow White and the Huntsman.
This tepid fairy tale forgoes any trace of character development or narrative originality; content to ride its admittedly impressive production values for all they are worth. Art direction, cinematography and visual effects are all outstanding.
Snow White goes through all the motions, never rising above the level of eye candy. Kristen Stewart is woefully miscast and the screenplay provides little chance for anyone else to pick up the slack. The lone exception is Charlize Theron, whose evil Queen Ravenna provides the film's only dim spark of life.
A watchable, but utterly forgettable film.
