I just listened to Hans Zimmer's Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. What a steaming turd of a score.

If you like mindless droning, obnoxious electronics, recycled themes, grating source material and a horrific remix, then this is your soundtrack!

Here are a couple recent favorites to wash out the horrible taste:

Jeremy Soule's gloriously epic theme to Skyrim...

And the lovely end credit suite from Zelda: Skyward Sword...

Raise your hand if you're excited for Thomas Newman's Skyfall score!

Extremely disappointed in this news. David Arnold is one of my favorite composers and we don't hear nearly enough of him.

Tomorrow Never Dies is perhaps the best Bond score of all time and his work on Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace was brilliant as well. Here's hoping he returns to the franchise someday.

Like adventure scores? Journey 2: The Mysterious Island is one of the best I've heard in a long time. Andrew Lockington has hit this one out of the park.

I even wrote a guest review for Dave's blog. Check it out here.

I'll post a track when a generous soul uploads one to YouTube for me to steal...

Just listened to Marc Streitenfeld's score to The Grey. Sure hope it was better in the film than on its own. Yikes. 35 minute album about 32 minutes too long.

A completely forgettable score on album with no significant presence in the film. A very poor effort.
