I have been off cakes/sweet for some time now and I do not feel I am in anyway being deprived.
But, every time I go to a church meeting with supper afterwards ,
I have noticed there are no alternatives to the cakes or tray bakes.
I think the church should be taking a lead here and offering healthy options.

My question is,
What are the alternatives to heavy leaden sugar and full fat cakes/tray bakes?

Anyone any ideas?

Fruit was the first thing that came to my mind as well. Also, a tray of fresh veggies with a healthy dip would be great. Salad is always a good thing, as would lean meats like sliced turkey or chicken.

Church dinners have always been frustrating for me. Who can diet at a feast? It is hard, but not impossible, to remain faithful at a church dinner like this. Also what is important, is if you do indulge get right back on your program. That is the hard part for many of us.

Thank you Candy and Dave for your help.
I gess it is a matter of putting a little thoght into it.
When I was eating all the sugar and fat that came my way I never thought about other peoples diet needs.
Now I can understand a little more how difficult or at lest frustrating for them to find the right foods.
