I know we discussed this topic in length with regard to Saturn, but what about the others?
I also am contemplating getting a Sega CD with Gen 1, Saturn, and NES to start collecting games for them.
I also want them to be all region- at least the Sega systems (not sure about NES). What do you know about making them all region? Can it be done?
As always, input is much appreciated.
As for Sega CD, there use to be a region mod cart, but it only worked on like half of the games or less, but now, there are universal bios systems, which require soldering/stacking/switches, but I've not ever really gotten into those. I had a Japanese mega cd, for Japanese games, and a North-American Sega CD, for North-American games. The easiest way to do it would probably be to get a flash cart (everdrive, megacart?) and run whatever sega cd bios you want on it. You may also have to add a region switch to the genesis.

The NES isn't region locked, but it does have a cartridge that is a different shape and has a different connector than the famicom games. It looks like you can find them for around the $20 range online. You may also be able to find NES games which have an internal NES/Famicom adapter.
The sega cd all-region cart was made by Datel and called the Pro CDX. They apparently made two versions, one for model 1 sega cd systems, one for model 2. These use to be advertised all over gaming magazines, for sale, along with those turbo grafx 16 import adapters. If I knew those things would have been so rare and collectable, I would have bought a bunch of them. Really, I should have bought at least one of each for myself. Region locking doesn't mean too much these days, other than maybe getting access to a game quicker, but back in those days, it severely limited your access to a complete library of games. Many many games just didn't come to North America.
