It's an Upper East Side face-off when Blair and Chuck both set their sights on a particular item up for bid at Sotheby's and the personal stakes are high. Serena suspects that Carter (guest star Sebastian Stan) may be up to his old habits, Georgina takes an interest in Dan, and Vanessa begins to suspect that something isn't quite right with Scott (guest star Chris Riggi). Chace Crawford, Taylor Momsen and Matthew Settle also star.

The horrible extensions need to go. I say we start a petition. I also say we start a petition to bring back old school gossip girl. I feel like everything is on fast forward or the characters are all on crack. Either way things are bouncing around entirely too fast. You have Vanessa suddenly realizing she is so in love with Scott that she can't push him into telling Lily and Rufus the truth? Chuck and Blair sabotaged Carter? WHEN? And Serena is falling for Carter, not having a mental break down? Explanations people. I need explanations.

I agree with all of the above. Why was Vanessa crying over Scott? She barely even knows him. And I really do think he's a horrible actor. I hope maybe we'll get a little break from him next episode.

The thing that made me happiest about this episode was the lack of Bree, but Jenny and Eric weren't in it enough, and everyone else was acting so weird. Chuck turning Blair down for sex after five days of celibacy? Yeah, right.

I do love the Georgina plotline, though. She is completely insane, and it's fabulous. I thought it was hilarious that she already had Georgina/Dan wallpaper on her computer. I cannot wait to see what she does next. And I thought Serena and Vanessa catching Dan in the hallway after their hookup was great.

My friend pointed out that the main reason this season seems so weird is that Gossip Girl is just a narrator not a character now. They're never checking their phones for blasts anymore or worrying about her revealing their secrets. That whole element is gone. I miss it.

Hm. That could be it. I would have thought there would be something since Gossip Girl is supposedly in college as well.

Not sure I agree about Scott/actor and his behavior/acting. I am still weighing in on that.

I agree the episode did feel off or different. The description of it being on speed or something seems quite apt. It is like they're trying to fit way too much into such a short period of time, and they're introducing too many characters. I wonder how many of them are just going to stay guest stars or if they'll make some of them regulars.

I miss Jenny, and can't wait for her to get back to Constance...I think her as queen will be an interesting storyline which we haven't seen any of yet.

I have no interest in Scott, I'm really over his storyline...it wasn't nearly as interesting as I thought it would be. I do really enjoy Georgina though, I thought her wallpaper was funny too. I wonder how long she is going to stick around seeing as the actors also in Mercy.

I didnt mind the episode, I thought it was ok.

My favorite thing of course was Chuck and Blair....man I love those 2. I was worried at first when Blair was trying to initiate things with Chuck and he was brushing her off.....I thought uh oh....glimpse of the future, Blair the desperate housewife who doesnt get enough attention and Chuck the obsessed business man who puts work before everything. I was very proud of Blair for giving him the portrait, and when she told it was "because I love you," so cute!

I was kind of annoyed with them and the way they were messing with Carter, even though as Dee pointed out we would have had no clue if Serena didnt mention it and Im still not sure how she figured it out....I dont care if he does turn out to be bad....still....that boy is so yummy! I just like looking at him. Im wondering what the whole business with him and the Buckleys is all about.

I agree with everyone else about the Vanessa/Scott bit. But the thing that annoys me the most is that they pulled the whole he's going to tell Rufus but then backs out at the last minute to spare his mother bit......so old and tired. Personally I didnt buy it for a minute, as if the show would reveal one of their big secrets for this season in the third episode, now they can drag this out all season and leave it as the big reveal for the season finale...gag.

I have to object on how Scott behaved. My question is are you adopted? If not you can't begin to understand the feelings you have for your adoptive parents. I'm half adopted and it still bothers me to talk to my biological father. It feels like a betrayal to the father who raised me. You feel this obligation to the people who loved you enough to choose you. And while you might want to know your biological parents you can't shake that obligation to the people who took you in when the others gave you away. And yes you do feel that you. So I have to object and take a small bit of offense to teh tired and old scenario because its my scenario and reality.

My comments were not in any way meant to be offensive but I do stick to what I said in that I feel that the whole situation was just a way for the show to create drama for drama's sake. To have Scott tell Vanessa this huge secret, have them set it up to where Dan and Georgina find out Scott is lying and have it seem like Scott is going to say something and then have him change his mind and leave to Boston.

I can understand that he feels incredibly conflicted, and I respect that someone in that situation would. But they created an interesting twist by having his adoptive mother show up and say she supported him not try to talk him out of it, I would have liked for him to have followed thru so we could see everyones reactions. Now it just seems like this is giving Georgina an opportunity to use this information to blackmail someone.

Except it is offensive in the sense that you don't understand what it is like for some one in that situation and don't seem to even want to. It would have been incredibly unrealistic for him to follow through. It isn't about drama for the sake of drama. It is about realism. And realism is no matter how supportive your adoptive parents are you never make it out in the first round. You have to personally over come that sense of obligation. Some people can. Some people can't. I guess you have to be in the situation to get it.

This is exactly it, in my opinion it would have been interesting to see him over come it.

Just like I suppose it is your opinion that I dont seem to want to understand what it is like for someone in that situation....guess its my turn to be offended.
